A little section of my mantle ~

Can you tell that I love old things? My mantle has no rhyme or reason, but holds a collection of treasures that I have gathered over the years. Some are gifts, found items and some things I've even found in our own store!

Isn't it amazing that as you bring these items into your home and group them on a shelf, a table or mantle ~ they look as though they belong together. Mismatched, yes. Imperfect, yes. But now that they are here, together on my mantle . . . they are home.

Dawn, everything you show us is so beautiful. You have the best eye, and know just how to arrange vignettes. :)

oh i love how you do all your designs, and decorating, answer to your questionabout the swap, i'm asking if people want to do a paper collage or figures .. guess so far leaning to the 'anything goes', as long as its stays in the theme of a cat and/or pumpkin!

They are such wonderful items you have grouped on your matle.
But, I think the grouping is important to make it look like yours do.
It depends on how you put them together.
That is something you have done perfectly.

Dawn, I bet I could send you a box of odds and ends from my basement and you could arrange the items into a visual invitation to rest and meditate. Beautiful.

That's really cute, I like collecting old things that mean a lot to me and have to remind me of other times.
It's what makes a home a home.

I discovered your blog a little while back and love your postings. I too love & appreciate the beauty and history of older things. Friends and family don't always get it. One friend actually looked around my home for the first time and asked "You're not scared surrounded by so many old things?" It's nice to be able to check in now and then with a kindred spirit.
