The love of old....

I think I may have used this title before but it's OK.
Because this thought is in my head always....
I do love old, wonderfully aged things ~

I remember as a little girl visiting my grandparent's old farmhouse and
just loving it. There was so much there to see and enjoy....
The old barn was wonderful!! And the oak trees in the front yard
were fairytale huge to me ~
they each had old rock walls around them and
giant roots that rose out of the ground.
The grandchildren would walk 'round the old trees,
stepping oh-so-carefully on the roots so as not to lose our footing.
I also remember seeing the biggest black ants around those old oaks!

Old is character.
Old is having a history.
Old is beautiful ~

hugs and love,
Dawn

Hi Dawn!

Your childhood memories are so vivid, I can almost imagine those old oak trees! I grew up around tons of farmland and I can still picture the old farmhouses and barns. Sweet memories.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit the other day and good luck in the giveaway! :-)

I agree with that: Old is beautiful. I say this because I'm an old lady, sugar! Hah, but it truly is the truth. I like the 2nd photo the best though. The trellis just looks cool and inviting. Nice post, chickee....

I agree with you Dawn - I love old things too. It's odd that as a child things looked so big and huge and when I went back to my old home in the South the tree I used to sit under had shrunk - now how can that be?? haha But I dearly love old things and I love these pics - it just make me want to move right in. Have a wonderful day!

I love the old too! Anything with rust, chipped paint, moss, a story, love it! This farmhouse makes me want to go out on the front porch, sip some sweet tea and slowly watch as the day passes by...

Old is the best, no argument there. But thinking about it, we have to do modern too, or future people won't have old things to enjoy from our time :D

I too would so love to restore an old farmhouse...although I have memories of going to my Pappas house it was not a farmhouse but an old two story beautie! My fondest memories are of the old staircase..and sliding down (shh don't tell pappa) the railing! Funny memories remain with me too...the small repair nail in the railing caught my ruffle butt silky panties...and well...shall we say...
i never slid down the railing again...unless it was in my overalls! I've trusted you gals with my secret...my Mom to thinks they were ripped in the wash!

Oh, Dawn, you brought back some wonderful memories for me too! My grandparents lived on an old farm in Illinois when I was very young. I remember the farmhouse with a water pump at the kitchen sink, the outhouse (which I hated) and the feather bed upstairs we would jump on! I went with Grandpa to get the eggs and feed the pigs and they had an old tire swing in the backyard. Those were indeed good old days, never to be had again unfortunately. THanks for the trip down memory lane! QueenMarcy
